Treat Rosacea for your Skin

By Alistair Nole

Acne rosacea is a chronic and at times progressive facial disorder that afflicts 45 million people all over the world. Permanent redness, swelling, exceptionally sensitive skin, and bloodshot eyes are common complaints of those who suffer from this condition. Since this affliction was noted in the past to affect those who are descended from north-western Europe, "the curse of the Celts" is a name that Irish people sometimes gave this disorder.

Rosacea can do similar things as melasma, and create darker patches on the face. The marks are more red with rosacea, that is the main distinction. Sometimes, redness happens to faces naturally. Natural causes include a spike in adrenaline levels. When spicier food is consumed, arteries can be dilated and this can be a cause. However, rosacea takes redness to an abnormal level.

Physicians will say that rosacea is not caused by infections of a bacterial nature. Genetic traits may point to a group of people who tend to blush more easily than others. The condition can be aggravated by certain factors such as consumption of alcohol, which is also known to make your face red. The age of 30 is a common time for rosacea to be diagnosed by a dermatologist.

Rosacea has many outward signs, including bumps and acne, red cheeks, redness and swelling near the nose, and unsightly obvious blood vessels on the face.

Laser treatments are often used to treat many types of skin conditions, including rosacea. However, many dermatologists prefer to begin with topical treatment for rosacea. For instance, skin creams can get rid of the abnormal redness through conventional antibiotics like tetracycline and minocin. This works for both light and moderate cases of rosacea. In managing severe cases, oral antibiotics may be prescribed by a dermatologist for a more potent control of the skin condition.

Makeup is over-used by people who have rosacea in order to attempt to hide the condition from others. Remember that if you do this, you may only worsen the problem. One should avoid makeup whenever possible, and it should be minimized when used on special occasions. Whenever possible, no makeup is the best solution. Cleaners that are mild in nature are the best option for rosacea symptoms. Rosacea is not as likely to get worse if the face is kept as clean as possible. Using a cleanser that is sourced from natural material makes the most sense, as using stronger chemicals on your face is not a good idea. There are parts of some of these cleansers that will cause harm to your skin.

Rosacea can occur in adults of any ethnicity, and adversely affects patients' quality of life. The condition can be effectively controlled with therapy tailored to the specific subtype of rosacea that is affecting the patient. Natural products go a long way in minimizing the effects of rosacea. However, like any medical condition, it's always best to consult the specialists. There are plenty of dermatologists who are well respected and knowledgeable that can help treat rosacea, melasma and any other skin conditions, that will improve the lives of patients.
