However, these drugs are not the only substances that can be used to keep a person healthy. The regular spice found in ones kitchen can be as effective as well. There are many people that prefer to use these natural ingredients because of the many health benefits of spices.

Spices come in so many kinds. A spice can have one or even two medicinal properties similar to what some drugs have. It is just an ingredient used for enhancing the flavor and aroma of a dish. One property that can be found among many these plants would be the antibacterial property. Since time immemorial people have been using garlic, onion, peppermint, oregano, and thyme as a cure for certain infections.

You can also find some plants that are highly recommended for managing cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure. A spice can also be an ingredient that can help people with diabetes and hypertension. Just some of the ingredients that can do these are turmeric, chives, onion, bay leaf, and cinnamon.

Another use that a spice may have would be to help aid in one digestion any digestive problem he may have. A good example would be sage and thyme. These two are perfect for easier digestion of any fatty food. Indigestion can be remedied by using peppercorns, peppermint, and turmeric.

You also have spices that have the special ability to prevent certain diseases from happening. According to studies, basil can help prevent asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Orange peel is rich in vitamin C making it good against colds and scurvy. Many believe the chili pepper is a wonder spice against prostate cancer and ulcer.

Vitamin A and vitamin E are some examples of substances classified as antioxidants. The human body needs antioxidants to prevent cells from deteriorating as a result of oxidation reactions. Antioxidants can easily be found in ones spice rack. Peppermint, thyme, basil, dill weed, oregano, turmeric, and parsley make good antioxidants.

Diuretic property is another property that a spice may possess. Diuretics are very important since these substances help the body remove excess fluid. This is normally used for those with kidney problems. Three examples of plants that are used as diuretics are garlic, cilantro, and anise star.

There are many advantages you can get from the use of spice instead of drugs. A very obvious advantage is that a spice is very organic and is not incorporated with chemicals that can be harmful to the body. Another good thing about this is its versatility. A spice can be ingested by so many ways. This can be added to any food that you prepare or in your beverages such as smoothies, shakes, milk, teas, and juices.

There are still many health benefits of spices that were not mentioned. Using natural substances is a good thing to do because they do not contain any harmful chemicals. A spice is also cheaper than drugs. You can even plant them in your backyard so you can make use of them whenever you want without any kind of difficulty.
