The Hypothyroid Diet Breakfast

By Dr. Kevin Dobrzynski

The goal of the hypothyroid diet is to optimize metabolism. And the best way to jumpstart your metabolism everyday is with breakfast. If you're currently not eating breakfast, start!

It is important to eat right with the help of a proper hypothyroid diet especially when it comes to breakfast.

Breakfast is very important because it is the first meal of the day. A healthy morning meal will help in ensuring that you keep your weight in check.

In case you are one of those people who skip and see no value in this first meal of the day yet you suffer from this disorder then it is very important that you start taking it.

However most people are not aware of this and end up not having breakfast but give more value to lunch and dinner.

A balanced diet should consist of vitamins, fats, protein, carbohydrates and other minerals which should be eaten in the same proportion.

Food that contains carbohydrates like pasta and some cereals are good as they will boost your energy levels.

Food with iodine like oatmeal, hazelnuts, cinnamon among others should be included in your early morning meal.

Vegetables such as tomatoes and carrots should also be included in your meal as they contain fiber and antioxidants which reduce the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Avoid vegetables like cabbages, cauliflower and broccoli among others as they interfere with the function of the thyroid.

The thyroid glands are responsible for releasing hormones necessary for the performance of the body system.

One banana, a handful of frozen strawberries, 1/4 of an avocado, whey protein, one raw egg, and water.

Instead of eating fatty meat like bacon and hamburger during breakfast go for healthier protein food.

Fatty meals will have a negative impact on your body for example they may lead to inflammation of the body system, high blood pressure and high levels of cholesterol in the body.

Hiring or consulting a nutritional expert is important in case one has other medical conditions as the expert will help in planning a proper diet.

Finally, the whey provides the protein, but you can get protein from vegetarian protein powders, just avoid soy, it's not good for your thyroid.

If the egg makes you squeamish, or you're afraid of getting sick, you don't need to use an egg. I add it by choice for more fat and protein.

However it is important to note that just because one is suffering from this condition does not mean that they have to watch the calories they consume or go on low fat diets.

There you have it, the perfect breakfast and a staple of the hypothyroid diet.

Happy blending.
