This may sound as surprising advice but trying to lose weight by following a strict diet can reduce the amount of nutrients that you passed down to your baby through breast milk. Weight loss is thought to be more healthy when it is done in a steady and slower pace, instead of trying to drop a lot of weight in a short period of time. Eating lots of vegetables and fruits are great ways to relieve hunger and get plenty of vitamins, and having a more even and steady weight loss.

3. Regular exercise is important

Yes, regular exercise still works! Cardiovascular training such as aerobics and even strength exercises can help burn calories while maintaining muscle mass and bone strength. This helps the mother handle the stress of looking after a baby a lot more effectively. Prior to beginning any exercise regimen, it's very important to consult a physician.

4. Keep breastfeeding your baby

The baby receives essential nutrients and fats from breastmilk that helps build antibodies for the newborn, and gives them the important nutrition they need. The effects of breastfeeding on weight loss are debatable. Breastfeeding should be continued either way if possible, as it's very healthy for the baby.

5. Be sure to stay well-rested

After the pregnancy is over and the baby is delivered, there can be more effects on the body that have to do with the stress of caring for the newborn. Studies have revealed that new mothers must get over 7 hours of sleep a night in order to lose pregnancy weight.
